The E&L Market is a local corner convenience store that has been serving the immediate north side neighborhood for many years. The St. Louis Development Corporation and the local Alderman developed plans to renovate the exterior of the structure in a style that would mimic its original historic character. Without the benefit of any existing photos of the original building, the architect was charged with coming up with an elevation scheme that would fit with that of the existing neighborhood. The project involved removing all of the exterior modifications and installing a new storefront that would be more inviting and open to its patrons. E&L Market’s façade restoration has been well received by the owner and the neighborhood.
